Hi, I’m jACK.

Thanks for following along!
My name is Jack Rudden, and I am a junior at Mississippi State University, where I am working on my Bachelors of Science degree in Geosciences with a concentration in Broadcast and Operational Meteorology. I also carry a Associates of Arts and Sciences degree from Carroll Community College. I was the Senior Forecaster for Foot’s Forecast LLC from 2023-2025, and was with the team for 6 years total. In 2022, I became the lead client advisor alongside Rich Foot, our founder where we advised local school systems and large companies of inclement weather that could result in impacts to normal schedules. In the spring of 2025, I stepped down from my role as Senior Forecast and Lead Client Advisor to start my own brand, Central Maryland Weather. In addition, I have been a weather consultant for a local college since 2022, providing real time severe weather information, as well as winter storm forecasts to the administrative team to assist in decision making.

My passion for meteorology began in 2012, as a 4th grader when Hurricane Sandy slammed the Mid Atlantic with destructive hurricane force winds, tremendous storm surge, flash flooding, and blizzard conditions in the mountains. This was the first weather related incident to knock out power at my house. The power was out for 4 days, for which we had to move in with my grandparents for a few days until it was restored. This passion was then solidified in 2013, on my 5th grade graduation day. A line of severe storms moved through right as the ceremony was about to begin. As I was leaving my house, I looked up and was stunned to see the sky turn an olive green color. I had never seen anything like it. While the storm wound up not being too significant, a second storm later that afternoon produced a long track tornado that lifted just a few miles away from my house. From that moment on, I knew that I would eventually end up as a meteorologist.

I was born and raised in Ellicott City Maryland for the first 19 years of my life. In 2021, my family and I moved to a lovely small town in Carroll County known as Mount Airy. It was a much needed change, as we wanted our own yard, a quiet neighborhood, and a pool. So, in june of 2021, we settled on a house just outside the town limits in southern Carroll County. We absolutely love it here. In August of 2025, I joined the Mount Airy Inclement Weather Task Force and became the Chairperson that September. As a task force, our goal to to promote the safety and preparedness of town residents and business for inclement weather. Our task force submitted a proposal to the town council to install outdoor warning sirens in town, which was unanimously approved in January of 2026. We hope to have these sirens installed by the end of 2026 to ensure Mount Airy can have one more way to receive critical weather alerts, particularly for “dead zones”, where cell service is spotty.
